Cookie Notice
Every cookie and browser storage item the Bless Service uses, what each one does, and how to control them.
This Cookie Notice explains how company legal name ("Bless", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and on the pages organizations run on Bless (together, the "Service"). For how we handle personal information more generally, see our Privacy Policy.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as that you are signed in. Some cookies last only until you close your browser (session cookies); others stay for a set time (persistent cookies).
Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, which work much like cookies but are not sent to the website with each request. Local storage stays until it is cleared. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab.
Cookies set by Bless itself are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company are third-party cookies. The only third party that stores anything in your browser through the Service is PostHog, our analytics provider.
What we use
We use two kinds:
- Essential: needed for the Service to work, such as keeping you signed in or remembering what is in your basket. The Service cannot work properly without them.
- Analytics: help us understand how the Service is used and find errors.
We do not use advertising cookies, social media cookies or tracking pixels.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_visios_events_session (cookie) |
Bless | Keeps your session as you move between pages: whether you are signed in, and steps in progress such as checkout, bidder enrollment or a door check-in. Also protects forms against forgery. | Essential | Until you close your browser |
remember_user_token (cookie) |
Bless | Keeps you signed in if you tick "Remember me" when you sign in. Cleared when you sign out. | Essential | 2 weeks |
registration_cart_<event number> (cookie) |
Bless | Remembers the tickets you have chosen for an event so a reload does not lose them. Holds only a random token; your choices are kept on our server. | Essential | 1 day, or until you check out |
volunteer_session (cookie) |
Bless | Lets a volunteer an organization has invited use the event night screens without a login. Holds only a random token. | Essential | Until the volunteer's access ends, plus 1 day |
giving_visitor_id (cookie) |
Bless | A random identifier set when you open an organization's giving page, so the organization can count page views. We do not store your IP address with it. | Analytics | 1 year |
givingResume (session storage) |
Bless | Remembers a gift in progress (amount, fund and schedule) while you sign in, so you can pick up where you left off. Removed as soon as it is used. | Essential | Until it is used or you close the tab |
| Screen preferences (local and session storage) | Bless | On organization staff screens, remembers choices such as rows selected in a list, a chosen view, a filter or search, or a collapsed panel. | Essential | Local storage until cleared; session storage until you close the tab |
ph_<project key>_posthog (cookie and local storage), and other items starting with ph_ |
PostHog | Gives your browser a random identifier and tracks your visit so we can see which pages are used and find errors. If you are signed in, it is linked to your email address. | Analytics | Up to 1 year (cookie); local storage until cleared |
Other requests to outside providers
Some pages load fonts from rsms.me and a code library from jsDelivr. These providers do not set cookies through the Service, but they receive your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches the files.
Payment forms are provided by Stripe. When you enter card details, Stripe may set its own cookies for fraud prevention under Stripe's privacy policy.
Your choices
There is no cookie banner on the Service today. You can control cookies and storage through your browser:
- Block or delete cookies. Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies, for all sites or for ours alone. If you block essential cookies, you will not be able to sign in, keep tickets in your basket or check out.
- Clear site data. Clearing site data for our sites removes cookies, local storage and session storage together.
- Block analytics only. You can block cookies and storage from PostHog, or use a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts. The Service works without PostHog.
- Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. Today the Service does not change its behavior when your browser sends these signals.
Changes
We will update this notice when the cookies or storage items we use change, and change the effective date at the top.
